Adeleke credited his principles to the values instilled by his father, a diplomat and labour union politician, who taught him and his siblings the importance of fulfilling commitments.

He recounted his role in political negotiations that led to Godswill Akpabio’s emergence as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as House Speaker.

Adeleke said he assured President Tinubu during that period that Osun lawmakers would support the President’s preferred candidates, despite indications that some from his political circle favoured Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

According to him, he contacted the lawmakers, persuading them to align with the President’s choices, and ultimately, all three Osun senators and House members supported the candidates.

This experience strengthened Adeleke’s belief that political promises must be honoured.

“I don’t make empty promises; I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God,” he stated.
