2027: N’Central APC Endorses Tinubu For Second Term

Governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central geopolitical zone have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

Governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central geopolitical zone have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

The APC governors in the six states of Nasarawa, Benue, Logo, Plateau, Niger, and Kwara and leaders of the party from the zone, also dopted president Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The endorsement was made at a mega rally organized by the All Progressive Congress (APC) held in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital on Saturday.

The event hosted by Governor Abdullahi Sule, chairman of the North Central Progressive Governors Forum, was attended by governors from Nasarawa, Benue, Niger and Plateau states, while those of Kwara and Kogi were represented. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, were also present at the well attended event.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and APC political leader in the North Central zone, Senator George Akume, moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption, was seconded by Governor Sule of Nasarawa state. The motion was laudly carried by acclamation by attendees of the event.

Speaking at the event, Akume said the president’s economic reforms, infrastructure projects and commitment to fiscal federalism were among the reasons the zone was backing the re-election of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Urging political leaders in the North to respect the power-sharing understanding reached in 1999, which provides for the rotation of the presidency between the North and South, Akume listed removal of petrol subsidy, increased allocation to states and local governments, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), as key policies of Tinubu’s administration.

“By the authority of this great congregation, I, Senator George Akume, do now propose this very important and historic motion that the people of the North Central states, meeting here, have resolved that come 2027, our sole candidate for that election is His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There is no other candidate,” he said.

Seconding the motion, Governor Sule said the president’s policies on the economy, infrastructure and education had provided grounds for the party’s endorsement.

Sule cited improvements in crude oil productiona, foreign reserves and stock market capitalisation, as well as the introduction of NELFUND, as indicators of progress under the Tinubu administration.

“I, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, second the motion that all the APC North Central states of Benue, Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa, as well as the FCT, endorse Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term,” he said.

The motion was put to a voice vote and declared carried by Akume, who urged party members to work towards its realisation.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urged APC supporters to take the administration’s policies and programmes to their communities, stating tht sustained engagement with voters would be crucial ahead of the 2027 election.

Oluremi said that Tinubu’s government was moving from economic reforms towards prosperity, citing infrastructure development, economic stabilisation, support for vulnerable women and children, and student financing, called on APC supporters to vote for her husband in the general election.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a leader who is very bold and not afraid to take difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us to prosperity,” she said.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, speaking on behalf of the Progressive Governors Forum and the presidential campaign leadership, said the rally also provided an opportunity to assess the zone’s preparedness for the 2027 election.

Uzodimma, urged APC leaders to resolve internal disagreements and promote unity and inclusiveness, saying the party’s 31 governors were committed to Tinubu’s re-election.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang said the North Central had gathered to acknowledge what he described as the president’s contributions to infrastructure and development in the region.

He cited federal infrastructure projects and interventions for internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities in Plateau State, adding that the state was committed to supporting Tinubu’s re-election.

In his welcome address, Governor Sule urged APC members across the North Central to mobilise for Tinubu and other party candidates, stressing the need for coordinated support at all levels.

He pledged that Nasarawa State would deliver its votes for the president in 2027 and called on party members to support APC candidates from the presidency to the state and local government levels.
